Surab Deb is a lifelong resident of southeastern Michigan with deep roots in both community-building and financial stewardship. He began DJing as a teenager and producing events in his late teens, using music and culture as tools to bring people together across backgrounds.
Alongside his creative work, Surab has spent over two decades in the banking industry, primarily in retail and small-business banking. His career has focused on relationship-based banking, financial oversight, and responsible management—experience that shapes how he approaches nonprofit leadership, budgeting, and long-term sustainability.
Surab founded the Shanti Foundation to support, preserve, and share South Asian culture through accessible, community-centered initiatives. He leads the organization with a practical, hands-on approach, grounded in transparency, fiscal discipline, and respect for the community’s trust.
His work reflects a belief that culture, when cared for responsibly, can strengthen communities and endure for generations.
